Dow Electronic Materials, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, said it will construct a new manufacturing facility in Eastern China to meet the material demand to serve printed circuit board (PCB), electronic and industrial finishing, and photovoltaic (PV) markets in Asia.

The new manufacturing facility will be located at the companys Zhangjiagang site in the province of Jiangsu. The Company said that construction is expected to begin in late 2010, with production anticipated to beginning in late 2011.

SB: Do you believe that corporate media giants report news objectively, completely and honestly?

MC: Sometimes ! It is not really for us to say … we are a neutral service aimed at letting users find conversations and decide for themselves.

SB: Do you believe that the Internet and blogging have or will force the “mainstream” media to change the way they report news?

MC: Yes, most definitely. Of most relevance to us is the rise of interaction, commenting on articles and we see this increasingly in mainstream media today.

SB: Do you believe that the Internet will one day become the predominant source of news? Do you believe that blogging will become more popular as time goes on, or do you think it’s a fad that will reach a plateau and then fade away?

MC: No. The internet is not a source of news, its a medium for the transmission of information; some good and some bad. News will always come from people writing about it; but they may well start to use the internet more than other traditional channels to reach their audience since the barriers to entry are so much lower. Its much easier to setup your own blog than your own magazine.

As has been the case for millions of years, the times they are a changing. If it seems that time is moving faster now than it has in the past, perhaps that’s because things seem to be changing faster. Survival has always depended on how well one can adapt to the changes. That seems to be true for everything, including media outlets and news sources. Urovalve, a medical device company focused on creating products for urinary flow and control, reported that it has been awarded a Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project grant from the U.S. government in the amount of $244,479 based on Urovalves 2009 research expenditures.

The Surinate Bladder Management System is designed to improve the quality of life and health of men who suffer from acute or chronic urinary retention, an inability to empty the bladder.

“This cash infusion, following promising early clinical results for our Surinate Bladder management System, are extremely important achievements,” said Harvey Homan, President and CEO of Urovalve. “There is a significant unmet need in healthcare for Surinate. In order to empty their bladders, men who have a urinary retention condition must rely on a 60-year-old product called a Foley catheter connected to a collection bag, or they must suffer through intermittent catheterization four to six times a day in order to relieve themselves.”

Surinate is designed to eliminate the need for a urine- collection bag or the discomfort and inconvenience of intermittent catheterization. Surinate is designed with a magnetic valve inside the catheter that allows the bladder to fill and then empty only on manual control by the patient. The patient uses an external magnet to open the valve in the Surinate catheter to drain the bladder only when he needs to. Furthermore, the Surinate valved catheter is designed to remain in the patient for up to 30 days.
